Assistant Professor
University of Calgary
Daniel Oblak is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy and principal investigator of the Quantum Cloud Lab. He is an expert on quantum memory in rare-earth ion doped materials, real-world quantum network realizations and more recently ground-to-satellite links. He was part of several important experimental demonstrations including the first storage of entanglement in a solid-state material, the development of a quantum repeater architecture based on spectral multiplexing, and quantum teleportation over a metropolitan fibre-network in Calgary. Dr. Oblak is part of the core science team of the Canadian Quantum Satellite mission QEYSSat and an affiliated researcher at the California Institute of Technology as part of the Intelligent Quantum Networks (INQNet) consortium. He is also the co-founder of a startup in quantum key distribution technology.
