Focus: Sustainability
Matt’s presentation will provide background of whole-ecosystem experimentation: how what it is, what we learn from it, and how it has led to new innovation for the environment. The presentation will trace some of the innovative research that has been done to address complex ecological problems and how solutions were pinpointed. The presentation will then consider some new and emerging challenges, and the approaches that are being taken to address them.

Focus: Sustainability
Dr. Musselman’s group and spinoff company, Nfinite Nanotechnology are developing coatings and devices that contribute to regenerative sustainability, recognising that today’s challenges need solutions that improve both human and environmental wellbeing. He will discuss how innovative materials deposition techniques can move the needle on a cleaner and safer environment thanks to low-cost solar energy technologies, environmental sensing and compostable and recyclable materials.

Focus: Sustainability
With materials underpinning nearly every sector, industry and application, climate solutions in any vertical will require innovations in both conventional and advanced materials. To complement the discovery and development of new nanomaterials, it will be critical to re-evaluate how we source, processes and manufacturing even the most common materials around us from cement to lithium.

Focus: Sustainability
Korea began fostering national-level nanotechnology in early 2000 and has invested about $78 billion over the past 20 years to build national nanotechnology infrastructure and platforms and promote nanotechnology research and development. As a result, it is striving to secure the world's fourth-largest nanoscience and technology competitiveness in future new industries such as next-generation semiconductors, future cars, and 5G by applying nanotechnology to electronic industries such as semiconductors and displays. In this session, it will be a valuable opportunity to look at the current status of Korea's nanotechnology industry and share the future that Korea wants to achieve with nanotechnology and the vision and strategy of the national nanotechnology industry.

Focus: Sustainability
It is difficult to focus on the future when there are so many global issues related to sustainability: food security, ever increasing energy needs, and access to clean water. Are we running out of time and what do we need to do now and in the future? How do we deploy the most creative minds on such critical issues?
